About Us

Band LogoThe Town of Mississippi Mills was created as a result of municipal amalgamations in January 1998,  and is made up of the former townships of Ramsay and Pakenham, and the Town of Almonte, Ontario, Canada.

The band was formed in January 2001 following a meeting between, Dave Findlay, Cam Ellis and Tim Ray. It was felt that there was a need for a community based band, whose primary purpose was the teaching of bagpipes and drums for interested persons in the area. It was also felt that such a band should be organized and administered by an executive, but with musical leadership and direction from a highly qualified individual who would not be involved in administrative matters. The band is not organized around the typical Pipe Major leadership model.

The band was incorporated as a Not for Profit Ontario Corporation under the name "Town of Mississippi Mills Pipe Band".

Not having kit and uniforms of our own arrangement, the kind generosity of the Almonte Legion permitted us, on an interim basis, to use the kit and uniforms of the ex-Almonte Legion Pipes and Drums. The kilts are unique in that they are in the ancient Blue Ramsay Tartan.

We invite anyone who is a player or anyone who aspires to play the bagpipes or drums to join our band. Practices are Wednesday nights in Almonte. We require only a commitment to practice and a commitment to attend practices.

Band and Individual Performances may be arranged through contacting one of the band executive.
